Occasionally, I speak to musicians who are not aware of some the steel guitar related products that we design and manufacture here at Peavey. A lot of "specialty" type products will work fine for other instruments, as well as steel guitar. A good example is the PX300 powered extension, which is one of those products. This is the same 300 watt digital power amp that we use in the Peavey Nashville 1000 and Session 2000 amplifiers. These are extremely clean amps and would work well as a powered slave cabinet for any instrument rack mount preamp. Or it can be used as a powered extension cabinet for any amp that has a PRE AMP OUTPUT or LINE OUT jack. Or, you can use this powered speaker cabinet with any line level preamp.
I know that there are a lot of Profex II, Tubefex and Transtube Fex users out there, and this would be a good match for those musicians. Here is the link to this product; http://www.peavey.com/guitaramps/px_300.html

Mike: Have you considered a version of the PX 300 with a 19" 1 or 2U rack mount included in the cabinet? I think that many of us are looking for a compact way to use your system with our own choice of effects unit. |

Hello Mark,
As a matter of fact, we have "been that route" with our bass amplifiers in the past with less than 100% successful sales numbers. But, it's not to say that your suggestion would not work in the steel world as there are many users of preamps.
The only problem that I see is that most rack mount processors/preamps are stereo. The PX300 comes equipped with one Peavey 1501-4 ohm BW speaker, which will not produce a stereo effect. The PX300 was originally designed as a mate to the Session 2000 amplifier to accomplish a stereo setup. But, this is not to say that this same PX300 could not be used as an "add on" to a Nashville 400, Session 400 Limited, N'Ville 1000 or even a Peavey Bandit, Fender Champ, etc.. You get the picture, ie; any amplifier that has a PRE AMP OUT or line level signal output.
BUT, back to your question. There is no reason why this can't be accomplished in a new design. The problem is available "real estate" for a processor AND digital power amp.
At any rate, I'll pass this along to our engineers. Thanks for the suggestion.
