I have an older model blue-tube pre-amp that hasn't had the Steel Mod installed,
could anyone point me to a place to have it done Or is it possible to buy the parts and do it myself ?
Thanks,
Kenny |

Kenny, if it is a Tube Works you can go to www.genzbenz.com . They should have a number listed there.

Kenny, I forgot, you can call 1-800-555-1212 and they can give you the phone number too. I did have it. If I find it I will post it.

Kenny - What year is your Blue Tube? I recently bought a 1995 model for $70.00 (!) and this was built 2 years before Butler sold the company to the new owners.
Problem is that the current Tubeworks/GenzBenz folks don't really have a lot of historical information about the exact nature of previous mods. They apparently tracked down someone who used to work for the original company, but they got only limitied information about just what kind of mod(s) was done. Their new mod (~a year or so old) is kind of a mix of some of the older mod and some new things, but so far, I have mixed feelings about it (on a newer 9002 preamp that I also have).
My 1995 Blue Tube is REAL CLEAN with great tone, and with the gain, master, and contour controls, you can dial in some grit if you like. It's just the single channel with one line out, but it's great. I don't know what they did back then, but I like it.
What's your's like and is it dated?

Are all of you talking about Bluetube or Bluetube II?

I have two Bluetube II's and they are great preamps. They have the factory mod but I have no idea what it consists of. I use a Bluetube II with a Profex II with the LeMay mod and all EQ's deleted with a Stewart power amp and two Black Widow speakers and I think it is a very good system. I have just hooked up my Walker Stereo Steel combo with a Profex II and it is a really good sounding rack amp also. I will give it a tryout Saturday night.
