Peavey Nashville 1000 Amplifier

With 300 watts of clean digital power, the Nashville 1000 is also an excellant amplifier for applications other than steel guitar. Although it was voiced for steel guitar, this amp works great in applications such as fiddle, accordian, piano, jazz and western swing guitar styles. Don't forget about the matching PX-300 powered extension enclosure available for use with any Peavey amplifier that has a PRE AMP OUTPUT jack.

Hey Mike,
This probably is not going to happen but I want to make a suggestion anyway. I have 2 Nashville 400s and I love them but I wish they were seperate units, i.e. Preamp, Power Amp, Speaker box. I'd like to have this for weight split-up and to be able to have all the controls in a rack case beside me instead of on the Amps behind me.

Whatcha think? How about you other pickers?

If Peavey were to come out with this arrangement, even in the 1000 design, I'd buy it right away. Matter of fact, this is the only reason why I stayed with the 400s and don't already have a pair of 1000s.

Mike, I'm sure the 1000 would be a wonderful amp for other instruments. It is, however, the best single unit amp I have ever used for steel guitar. Bar none at ANY price. Mike, I have an ADA 100 MicroAmp in line with my Pro-fex II and love the sound I'm getting.
Here's my question I'm planning on building my own cabs to the Peavey specs to save some money. Which 12" speakers should I buy the 4 ohms or 8 ohms to attain the best output? My ADA amp stereo ouputs A&B say 4 ohms min. and the mono bridged says 8 ohms min. I tried out a pair a friend made with 8 ohms and I have plenty of power for my needs but am I better off with the 4 ohms? I plan on seeing you in St. Louis to further explain any of this. Until then.

From your description of the rated speaker load for the amp in question, I recommend that you purchase the Peavey 1203-4 ohm Black Widow speakers. These are the same speakers that we used in our Nashville 112E steel guitar speaker cabinets a few years ago.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but I have had serious problems with this amp.
I too like the amp....WHEN IT"S WORKING.
In the 9-10 months I've owned it, it has "blown up" twice. (happened again last night at a recording session)
Same thing both times...turn it on...loud noise then....dead. Power amp fried. Can I send it back for repair?

If you have a problem with a Peavey product, don't hesitate to call me and I'll personally walk it through. Chet, the only effects processor that we are manufacturing right now is the Deltafex, which features just about any effect desired for steel guitar applications. Check it out here;

I own a mint Deltafex that I used occasionally with my Session 500 until I bought a Profex II. I feel sure that it would perform equally as well with the 1000.

I don't use it anymore, but I can get just as satisfactory effects with the Deltafex as the Profex, but the difference is......the Deltafex has no memory and has to be dialed-in each time you use it.

That's not a big problem though if you normally use only two or three settings like most players, and write down the settings that you use so you don't have to "hunt" to find them. www.genejones.com

Chet, I been pushing a Profex ll through the
1000 pretty much every weekend for the last two years and never had a problem.
I plug straight into the board through the
back connection and i'm very satisfied with the sound "out front". If you decide to get one just make sure it has the Newman settings. Also get a Ram card and keep the Newman settings on them for backup.
