Mike, as I was "lugging" my 75 Session 400 out of my car last night, I lifted it out of the back seat by handle. Then I balanced it on the trunk lid/back fender so I could get a good grip on the bottom of the cabnet with both hand's to spread the load to both hands/arms to carry it into my music room. I thought to my self, "boy this would be a lot easier if it had 2 handles that were mounted "front-to-back" , one on each end of the top of the cabnet".
Has Peavey ever tried it that way?
Has anyone on the forum ever tried it that way?
I love my Session 400, but as I get older, it seems to have gained weight!

I've mounted handles on several amps. I had the set-in handles on my old Session 500 (copied the idea after seeing Scotty's Session 500). Peavey used to make a smaller replacement handle that was metal with a set-in pocket for the hand that they used on some speaker enclosures. They still sell a recessed handle but it is almost too big for the sides of an amp.
I also had spring loaded type handles, that have a round rubber piece over the metal handle, on a Session 400LTD and I have the same type on a TNT115S bass amp. They require a slight amount of routing of the wood. |
