Does anyone happen to have this info? I have only been able to find a couple of buy sources so far, if you know of any it would be much appreciated. Thanks Bob Coombes

Regal is imported (or at least was) by a company named Saga. The had a telephone # in San Francisco I called several years ago when I had one. A search on the Yellow pages might turn it up.

Regals appear on ebay regularly. Ususally these are the RD-35 models which list for $225 without a case and sell for $180-$200. The RD-45 models list around $450 and can be bought for about $300 give or take a little. These both come in square neck and roundneck, have a spider bridge and soundwell construction. There is also an RD-75 which lists for about $650. This has sound post construction, but the nut is fairly narrow and, while I haven't seen one, I am dubious about it's applicability for lap style playing. These instruments are made by Samick in Korea for Saga. The same factory makes the Flint Hill and Fender resos. The RD-45 seems to be the most popular starter reso. Saga does have a website, look for "Saga Music" on a search engine. For a superior starter instrument check out Paul Beard's company "Resophonic Outfitters". He sells the same guitar as the Regal with a hard shell case and $200 worth of Beard parts and setup for $599. Paul's website is "www.beardguitars.com".

The "Regal" name was a registered trade name for Fender acoustic and semi acoustic guitars
these were distributed exclusivley by Fender Sales Inc,,,,from 1956 through 1965,,,,they were manufactured by the "Harmony Guitar Co"
with specifications registered by the Fender Co.

These were discontinued (Regal) when CBS aqquired Fender Musical Instruments in January 1965. I still own a "Regal" uke ..by Regal...

The "original" Regal acoustic guitars were made in Chicago, Ill.. They were patterned after the early Martins, but were fancier (more Mexican or Spanish) in their decorations and detail. I have one from the mid '30s, but I think they go back to about 1920.
