There's one in the Jeff Newman Profex II programs. The listing is on my web page. http://tampabaydsl.com/~jestoner
Try some of the factory programs. They are for guitar and many are distortion. |

Classic 50, F104. is pretty nice.
I found some interesting ones and used them as starting points too.
Might want to subractively use an EQ; i.e., put the EQ before the factory setting chain and dial out some frequencies from the steel's pickups. Then have fun with the overdrives and such. I particularly like using the CT (coil tap) in front of an overdrive/distortion. And don't forget the Celestion speaker simulation at the end of the chain!

Hello Jamie,
I'll be glad to save some distortion presets to a RAM cartridge so that you can load them into your Profex II. If you wish to do this, please contact me here at the factory and we can arrange to do this.
I can be reached at 1-877-732-8391.

Are you running your steel to the volume pedal and then to the Profex 2? This will not work well at all for any distortion or compression setting on the Profex 2 (or any other brand of effect for that matter). A constant signal is especially needed for the compressor. If your using the loop for the volume pedal from a Nashville 400, you'll get great results (another great reason to use a Peavey amp!) |

After experimenting on and off for months I finally came up with a good distortion program. It sounds somewhere between a Rat and the old Boss tones.I never cared for the factory or Newman distortion programs at all. This program has a richer sound like a Boss tone.I would post it,but it involves 7 effects and would take me 2 days to post since I can't type.BTW I wrote this for a Tubefex and Transtube Fex.Not sure how well it would work for a Profex II.When we get a rainy day I'll try it in a Profex II.----------bb |

Hi Jamie, how you doing these day's, I saw your dad on Sunday, anyway, re the distortion, give me a call and i can explain the one i use on my Pro Fex, Paul advised me on the settings recently and it made quite a difference, I do plug straight into the unit though, this gives a steady signal to it and makes all the difference when using dirty sounds. Have a nice day. |
