Since you guys have been talking twins here lately, I thought I'd share a mod that I just did, last night as a matter of fact....got all this info from another guitar amp board, all VERY cool!
As most of you know, the normal channel is pretty much useless....I've never played it!...on any of the 4 Fenders I've owned....no reverb and the output is a little less. What I did last night was to very simply reroute the normal channel from the output coupling cap into the reverb circuit...now this channel shares both the reverb and tremelo. I also, changed the bass and mid tone caps from .1 and .047 to .022 and .022, respectively....very nice change ala the original bassman circuit and early Marshalls. So now I have the classic scooped mid twin tone on the reverb channel, and the normal channel is now much more like a tweed with reverb...very sweet and middy....VERY COOL!...easy to do and now two amps in one.
I'm waiting on some parts from Hoffman, I'm going to change the value of the Mid pot back to the original value of 25K which will change the mid response even more. I'm also going to fool around with some changes more toward the plexi Marshall circuit, a 500P treble tone stack cap, and a 500P bright cap on the normal channel vol pot....just for kicks....that may be too far over the top, but it's no problem to try and may end up being a very cool change also. Just thought you guys might want to know you can EASILY wire your normal twin channel into a very usefull, different sounding, channel with reverb. Ain't this fun?...LOL
