Here's a question for all you C6'ers out there. In CEGACE tuning on a 22" scale steel do you notice that your A string doesn't ring out and shine like the other strings? I use a .22 unwound string and am not happy with it's performance. Do you notice the same?

John Ely addresses this issue on his website and suggests either using a wound string or just living with it.

Suggestions?

I've never liked the sound of those real thick "paper clip" plain strings. That's why I always use a wound in that position.

Also, strings in the center of the tuning often have weird overtones due to ringing in the keyhead. I shove a rubber grommet between the two middle strings in the keyhead to minimize this. Try it - it helps!
