I spent yesterday afternoon taking my original 70's Session 400 apart for a trip to John Lemay for some much needed TLC. I had to hook up the 15" Peavey/JBL in the Session cabnet to the extension speaker jack of my Envoy 110 practice amp to check the condition of the speaker itself as the Session had finally quit after 30 some years of use and at least one 6 foot drop off a loading dock in Lake Tahoe! and
of course, the speaker is blown too!
Anyone out there using the 1501 shallow basket, paper cone, Black Widow in their early 70's Session 400? How do you like it? I've been quoted pricing on getting the JBL re-coned and for about the same money, I can put in a new 15" Black Widow.
Thanks in advance for any help you may have to offer.

The Peavey 1501-4 ohm BW shallow basket is a very smooth sounding speaker. I use one now in my 15 year old Nashville 400 amp and it is installed in every steel amp(Nashville 1000, Session 2000 and PX300) that we have manufactured since about '97. The comments and track record of this speaker has been very positive since its release into production. I don't think that you can go wrong with the Black Widow 1501-4 shallow basket speaker#00027010) and as you stated, it costs about the same as reconing one of our competitors speakers.
Thanks for your support of our products. I can be reached toll free in the U.S. at 1-877-732-8391 should you have questions.

Thanks for the info Mike, I was hoping you might answer my post. I was 99% before and now I'm 100% in favor of the 1501-4 Black Widow in my amp.
