Can somebody give me an elementary explanation of what a "midi" is.... My knowledge of Electronic Technology stopped with the special effects that required I always have an extra battery on hand... Even my brother talks to me about hooking up midi's and I just nod my head like I know what he is talking about... Thanks... Rick

go to the glossary at the end of the page for a quick heads up of terminology.
read the article for details of a particular application of MIDI with steel guitar.

a MIDI file is kind've like a piano roll- it contains the information about performance parameters ( what note, how long is that note held, what sound is that note, and other sundries) for a MIDI device, such as a sound card or synthesizer that "plays" following those parameters..
