I had a chance to spend about 20 minutes playing the Chandler lap steel with the Weissenborn-shaped body. I thought it offered "great bang for the bucks" - easily the best new lap steel I've played at the lower end of the market. While it didn't make me want to trade in my Bakelite Rick it certainly has a warm, woody tone that's quite nice. Furthermore, the volume & tone controls are laid out perfectly for wrapping one's pinky around for voulme & wah-wah effects, something I can't do as easily on my Rick or Gibson EH-150. Very cool! The variance in the graphics on all the key frets makes it easy to find one's place on the neck. I was pleasantly surprised.
