Maybe this belongs in the Humour section.
A friend of mine has lent me his Fender twin-neck Stringmaster. As only one neck was strung, I reckon he only plays one, and I'm looking for a single-neck, too. So I suggested sawing it apart! The body looks like two bodies joined together, rather than a single piece of wood. Does anyone know whether these models were assembled this way?
I realise that the electronics, controls and leg sockets will need to be changed, but am I just being PLAIN DUMB - or has anyone ever done this? |

| If I am correct(and I'm often not),all you have to do is remove the diamond plates on the front of the instrument which will reveal bolts that hold the two necks together. |

Tony, yeah they're put together that way (see Adam's post), and I'm pretty sure you're joking. If not, I cannot help but to implore you not to do this to a vintage instrument!
I once had a Stringmaster that someone had done this too, it was once a triple 8, they took one neck off of it. As a double 8, with having to go through the hassle of installing new legs, it was still only worth about half of what an original D8 would have been.

I met two guys who were friends back in the fifties, and they couldn't afford double neck Stringmasters. They pooled their money, bought a quad and split it! I think one of them is a Forum member. Maybe he'll chime in and tell us the whole story.
Yeah, them necks are just bolted together. It's real easy to separate them.
