I need to find a decent sound for a Steel on this unit. Anyone found a good clean sound? Al I have are tons of overdriven, dirty amps(though sounding great) , thought I could use the Twin with Reverb but....

Hi Andy,
try 9d. I made a little editing, but I think it's the best clean sound you'll fing withing this kidney.

Hi Martin,
I'm back home, will handle the shipping this week. I promise !!
9D hm ?! Jazz Chorus? You're right, quite clean but not my taste.
There are so many Fender tube amps in it, why can't one of them be just clean and dry ....!!? |

I tried the POD and got rid of it. I was able to get some what of a clean sound by cutting back on the gain knob but it wasn't enough, so ended up buying the Johnson "J" Sation which seems geared more toward a clean sounds. It also has some good distortion presets too.Of course this is all MHO.

Hey Lonnie,
you seem to be the first steel player who uses the J-station. Can you tell us a bit more? How is the Bass-Amp modelling working for the steel???

Andy,
I had that very same problem when I got my POD. I couldn't get any clean sounds with the steel, but plenty with my guitar (a Strat).
As it turned out, the problem was the higher output from the steel, so I took a VERY un-scientific approach , and inserted a resistor in series with the steel, thereby forming a resistive divider with the pot in the volume-pedal, and that did the trick !! (I don't remember the exact value of the resistor, but I probably started out with half the volume pedals total value, and experimented from there !)
I now use the Twin Reverb model, with spring reverb and a touch of echo and it's nice and clean, both when used as a pre-amp and as a headphone practice amp.
I don't use cabinet simulation in either situation, by the way, and my POD is a version 1.4, but that probably makes no difference at all !
