An acquaintence who is interested in designing and building lap steels asked me my preference in string height. After giving my opinion I told him I'd query the Forum. So, what do you folks prefer?...3/8", 5/16", 1/2"...whatever.

TIA,

Cat

About 3/8" from the surface of the fretboard Cliff, for a lap steel. I like them higher on a pedal steel, maybe 3/4' to 7/8".

I have the 1/2" on the SS HAWAIIAN; because that is what "I" prefer.
