Does anyone know anything about the make of guitar Jerry is posing with on the cover of his old "Byrd's Best" tune folio. The folio is being offered on ebay now. Have a look - see.

I could be wrong on this, the old memory isn't as good as in yesteryear. This sure looks like a Trotmore,I believe was the name. Jerry and a steel guitar player in Columbus,Ohio,by the name of Ira Trotter built these guitar for a short while. Hope I haven't steered you wrong. CC

Looks like maybe the idea of the Trotmore was to use a 1.5" Ric (or Ric-style) pickup in a wooden body. Wonder how it worked out.

By the way, I enjoyed the photo of JB showing off his catch of fish. Recently I put the following sticker on my Dobro case: "Women want me. Bass fear me." Amusingly, some of my musician friends think it refers to a low-pitched instrument, not fish.

I sent the picture to Jerry of this guitar and he verified That indeed it is a Trotmore steel guitar made by Ira Trotter and Grady Moore in Nashville. The were a copy of the "Frypan" guitars. Only a few were made. Trotter and Moore both lived in Nashville. They were cast aluminum as were the Rickenbacker models and were excellent, tone wise.
