OK--so I just got a Tubeworks 2x10" cabinet. I am driving it with a Mosvalve 962--the 80W/side amp. The speaker cab has the option of mono or stereo jacks. If mono, I would be driving it from a bridged mono 100W output on the amp. Or I could drive it stereo from the 80W stereo outputs.
Are there pro & cons? Does 2 x 80W equal 160W?
I am not really interested in stereo but would that be the best utilization of what I've got?
Also, the box arrived with an open panel in the back so that it is in effect an open back 1x10" on top of a closed back 1x10". Is this sort of the best of both worlds or is just stupid? (ie., am I missing a piece of wood that ought to be replaced?) |

Try it both ways and forget about the numbers; Let your ears be the judge. That's the final arbiter, anyway.
Call the manufacturer of your cabinet and pose this very question to them. They built it, didn't they? (We can't read their mind).
I just hope those 10" speakers are rated at 100 watts each or you might have some potential problems in stereo mode (like blown speakers).
Good luck,
