How many Profex II users also use the pedal board controller with their unit? It seems like their would be a lot of pedals and foot switches to deal with for us pedal steel guitar players. What arrangement do you use? Thanks.

Dennis.....
I think I am right with this line of thought.
and that is:
Most of us use the pedal board to set up the progrgams of the Profex II. It's kinda slow and tricky to do it using the push-buttons on the front of the Profex II. The pedal board is really fast and you can tweak an existing setting to your preference without haveing to stop playing and diddle with the buttons, then play, do it again. It's the best thing since sliced bread to program the wonderful beast know as "Profex II"
But as for useing the pedal board as a foot controller while doing a show, Too much chance of a train-wreck. it's not like useing a RV-12 or other FX unit.
I use mine at home only !!
Also, If you have the special midi cable that comes with the foot controller, you don't have to use the BIG wall-wart to power it. Power is supplied from the Profex II thru the cable. Please note,,,, A standard midi cable will NOT work to supply power from the Profex II. Not enought wires in it. The standard midi cable will transfer data to and from the units. It's just minus the power wire. The ends are the same and will fit.
All this said, I know there are those amonst us that DO use the foot controller on stage very well. What I am saying is that it's a bit of a hassle for me, at least 3 more things to cart out to the stage, and I'm really not that good at getting the right sound fx from it on the fly.
Just my 2cents,,

Thanks Bill for your reply. I just picked up a used Profex II without the foot switches. I'm trying to decide if that is a part of the unit that is necessary. It sounds like that is the way to go if you use a lot of FX. I only liked about 50 of the factory presets which is more than enough. I haven't tried programming my own yet, but that will come after I get to know the machine a little better. Thanks again.

I have a Transtube Fex now, but used to have a Profex II and I've sequenced the user programs the same way. No need for a remote control. Most steelers set the Processor next to them so they can reach it, anyway.
I have my main program at user memory location 0 and use that 95% of the time. The next programs (1, 2, etc) are a program that I use with my MatchBro, chorous, phase, distortion, etc.
Probably the first 5 ot 6 user location programs are ones I use almost exclusively. If you look at the Newman Profex II program listing (available at my web site) you see that many of them are duplicates or almost duplicates of others. There are some that are exactly the same just have a different name. There are others that would only be used in a "special case".
So, with only a small of programs that are normally used the remote control is not really needed.

I put my most used program at spot #5. Then I place my next most used at spots 4 & 6. I only have to turn the knob one spot in each direction to get to my most used programs.
