My owner's manual for my 1000 says it delivers X# of watts per channel to 4 ohm speakers, or X# of watts to 8 ohm speakers.
I am currently using the new 1501-4 SB Peaveys, and am considering changing to JBL
D-130's.
My question, is, do I have to do anything to the amp or speakers, or do I just swap 'em out, and wire 'em up?

Just swap 'em out & wire 'em up. However,you won't be getting 500 x 2,w/ 8 ohm spkrs. You'll,more likely,be getting 350 or 400 watts x 2. I have a DPC-1000 hooked up to 2 -12" PV B-W's.They are 4 ohm spkrs.,so I'm gettin' the full 500 x 2 watts.
JBL D-130's huh? Where'd you find them? Hope you got a lot of "dust',if you know what I mean.

I remember reading on a privious post that someone said the D130 speakers were only rated at 100 watts. I don't know myself, but you might use a little caution. |

You're probably right, Fred. Back when the D series was being made a 100 watt amp was a big amp.

Thanks, Guys, for the response.
I only have one D130 now, but have a friend
looking for one for me. I realize I won't get the full 500 watts per, but I want to try, so I'll come up with a sweet sound, or blow two speakers, and cry my eyes out, while re-installing the BW's.
Thanks again for the responses.
