Does anyone have a preference for a 15" speaker in a Fender Twin Reverb for PSG?

I had a Twin back in the early 70's. I took the two JBL D-120F's that came with it out and installed a 4 Ohm JBL K-130. Really helped the old Twin out. You have to have a new mounting board for the 15" and it just barely fits. When I did mine, I bought some Fender Grille cloth and when it was done it looked like it was a "factory" job.

I like ElectroVoice speakers. They have a couple different grades depending on one's budget. I have always been happy with the EVM 15L and EVM 12L speakers. The last EVM 12L's I purchased were about $150.00 each and the 15L's were around $180.00 each.

ARCHIE, I HAVE A 1976? FENDER VIBROSONIC WHICH IS A TWIN WITH A 15 INCH JBL IN IT. I NEVER LIKED THE JBL SO WHEN MY NASHVILLE BROKE I PUT THE BLACK WIDOW IN THE FENDER AND IT SOUNDS GREAT. HEAVY BUT HAS A KILLER SOUND.

I have a Fender Reverb with a 15" JBL in it. I like it alot. It works great for small clubs dates and in the studio.....it has that Buck Owens ala Dale Watson tone to the steel when I use the Twin. I otherwise would use a Tubefex and a couple Nashville 400s.

I agree with one of the other posts, if you can handle the weight a pair of EVM12Ls sounds awfully good in a Twin. They are a very smooth sounding speaker. Mike Perlowin's played through my amp with 2 EVs and was very impressed with the sound. But it is a back-breaker. The amp has to have wheels because the speaker are heavy.

It's my understanding that Lloyd Green used a Twin with a K130 JBL in it for much of his work. IMHO, his E9th sound set one of the standards for tone.

I like the old EV SRO speakers in a twin (the ones with the big honking white magnets). Very smooth sounding, but heavier than JBLs!
