Is it possible to have 2 inputs into one pair of earphones? e.g. from the PSG and a tape recorder,cd player so that one cane play along to an accompaniment or recording. I realise there may be technical problems but not being technically minded I would welcome any ideas.
Thank you.

I use a set ear phones with the ear pieces
that fit in the ear and another set that goes over them.
it works great as I don't have to listen to the old woman complaining about the noise I am making amd it sounds more like I am part of the tape.

Best way would be to have a cheap little mixer-preamp that would accept the line levels from the devices. You need to be able to control the mic/line input level (voltage) of each item u want to monitor! A simple Y cord might work but overloading (inability to control the line inputs' level) could cause distortion or worse.

Chippy,

Go to www.radioshack.com and enter 970-0895 into the Catalog Number space at the bottom of the page. This is a cute little "DJ" mixer on sale for about $80. It looks nice, though there are probably other similar items available elsewhere which will do simple mixing like your looking for, maybe even cheaper. You'll have to call 1-800-THE-SHACK to order the above mixer, since it's not available via online ordering.

(I have no affiliation with Radio Shack.)

Chippy, I use a Tascam cassette 4 track recorder and run from my Evan's preamp output into the cassette, into which I plug my headphones. The Tascam has a good mixer on it and I can balance my steel with the rhythm track. This works good for me, but any mixer will work !!

The new Korg pandora mini efx unit not only has a mix feature for mixing in output from a tape player, it also has a function that will remove the vocal or the leads from the mix (for most recordings). THis would probably work great for rehearsing 'the way to survive' as an instrumental.
