Stunning folks. I just played several different models at the TSGA meet. These are hand made, one at a time. The material is the best you can get. If you don't check these out you are missing the finest acoustic resonator instrument I have ever seen or played. I have no connection with these folks at all other than I sure would like to get one. www.benoitguitars.com

Steve, I heartly agree, anyone that did not play the guitar or listen to Eddie Ortego demo the guitar missed one of the highlights of the show. Too bad Reece did not have time to play his eight stringer, well maybe next year. Bill C. |

Mr. Benoit was there last year with one guitar, and sold it to a lady. He's been very busy over the last year, as he had a very good selection of resonator guitars. He puts a great deal of work into each one, and I'd say they would give any other custom a run for the money. His guitars are not only beautiful, they have good volume and sound great. My favorite was the Koa model. Looking at the components, wood, and overall craftsmanship, I think they're priced very reasonable! |

A big thank you to Steve, Bill and Kenny for your opinions. I had an attack of Spring madness and purchased a new Benoit Resonator guitar based on talking to a number of folks - include Maurice Anderson. I've just gotten the guitar and I have to say I've seen Sheerhorns, Beards, Dobros, Nationals and nothing in my experience surpasses the beautiful tone and stunning visual appeal of the Benoit. Carroll Benoit's (pronounced Ben-wah) workmanship is right up there with the best custom work I've ever come across. My guitar has an Engleman Spruce top, Flamed Koa back & sides & a Curly Maple neck. All the above makers make exceptional guitars but their aesthetic is an extention of the original 30's design IMHO. Carroll is working from an acoustic guitar aesthetic first and really breaking new ground in his use of exotic woods - like Burl Redwood - and contrasting color necks. As Steve said, these really have to be seen and heard to fully appreciate. Buying one was like making a 2nd mortgage payment but I don't regret it. |

I don't personally play Dobro yet as all my time is spent learning Pedal Steel, but I can tell you that Carroll Benoit is very particular about his instruments. He is a personal friend of mine and I know he takes all the time nessesary to build the best guitar on the market. Like was said earlier their built one at a time and you won't find a better person to deal with.
When I talked to my dear friend and instructor Reece Anderson about these guitars he had nothing but high praises for them. I can assure you that Reece wouldn't be playing one if the wasn't top quality!!
I think anyone looking for a new Dobro would be doing theirself a favor to check these Benoit guitars out!! |

Let me just add that what Sidney says is very true. In purchasing two custom instruments I've been very lucky in having nothing but great experiences with both Carroll Benoit and Bill Hardin, of Bear Creek Guitars. Both are fair and honest, build instruments for the love of building, and are super nice guys to boot. |

Bob - Go to www.benoitguitars.com/ and you can drool over all the beautiful wood options. And yes, they sound every bit as good as they look. |
