Group,

Saw Big Sandy last night and the gentleman on steel (playing a very nice Dual Pro BTW) was someone other than Lee Jeffries.
I never did get his name. Can anyone tell me if this a permanent change ? Inquiring minds want to know.

I did hear that Lee was leaving. But don't know who the replacement is, or if he is permanent or temporary.

Hey its no other than Jimmy Roy, steeler with Ray Condo and his own group the 5-Star Hillbillies.
I think he's pretty much permanent since Ray Condo took some time off.

Andy: Any idea where Ray's living at present, or whether he's actually followed through on his plans for a lounge act in Hawaii? Anyone who's in touch with him, please say a big hi from Donna and Ian.

As for the new addition to the Fly-Rite Boys, anyone who's heard Jimmy's work with the Ricochets or the Five-Star Hillbillies knows what a fine player he is, and what a deep understanding he has of the whole musical tradition of western swing. He'll be the perfect replacement for Lee Jeffries.

I speak to Lee fairly often and apparently he feels that the time has come for life on the road and the relatively insignificant financial remunerations connected with it to take a back seat to his family now.He is living in the San Francisco Bay area and plans to play locally around there for the forseeable future.I'm certain we'll be hearing from him again soon.

I heard that Ray has taken a day job that permits him to tour every now and then...I'll ask Jimmy Roy next time.
Living in Germany I won't be able to hear the "new" Fly-Rite boys soon....anyone has a review?? I wonder what they sound like today!?

Last time I talked with Lee he wanted to spend more time with his family. I'm looking forward to seeing Jimmy Roy with Big Sandy, I've opened up and sat in with both Big Sandy and Ray Condo, Jimmy should fit in quit well. I haven't seen Lee in while and was out of town the last time they played in St. Louis. Can anyone e-mail me Lee's new home phone number? Michael, please help me out on this. Lee's number I have is before he moved. Thanks, Bobby Leach (St.Louis)
ps. The new Big Sandy CD is great ! Lee is still on that one.

Michael- please give Lee my regards as well. I enjoyed meeting him when he came thru Mpls. Let him know where to look me up (here). I'm curious if he ever got that old 3 neck Rick with the light up dashboard working. Best wishes, Lee and thanks for all of the great music on tour. I look forward to hearing your next efforts.
