I don't know if any of you caught Michael Rhodes (bass player) playing with Vince Gill on Leno tonight. Mr. Rhodes is a world class bass player. When Vince Gill went into his final solo Michael Rhodes stepped up to him in support and took no prisoners, laying it down in a supportive groove right next to Vince. Michael Rhodes is an incredible bass player. Very evident that he was urging Vince Gill on. Comraderie at its best. |

Michael is dominant to much of the music we listen to almost daily...
As part of the NVILLE A team and the PLAYERS right alongside Brent , Paul, John and Eddie, it's no wonder why his phone never stops ringing. Well deserved.
A Musician like Michael can really bring the best out of the musicians all around him..and he does.....If you have never caught Michael with the Players LIVE in NVILLE, he's worth the trip and the price of admission all by himself...
Good topic Kevin...

If I were recording an album in Nashville, the other guy I would call-and you couldn't wrong with either one-would be Glenn Worf.

while i was working as a builder at sadowksy guitars, i had the opportunity to hang with michael rhodes a bit, work on his basses, etc...
not only a killer player, but a super nice guy. and his wife's a sweetheart, too.
got to meet a buncha great players while i worked there; some were egomaniacs, some were nasty, but many were plain great people. the rhodes folks were some of the best.
gotta say for the record though, my favorite artist was jim hall. we'd talk about dogs while i set up his guitar. i wish he was my grampa!

Michael has been a good friend of mine for over 20 years, and has played on most everything I have worked on in Nashville. Check out the lastest Richie Furay record "Heartbeat of Love" for some killer Rhodes bass work... (www.richiefuray.com) |
