I had one of those rare Friday nights off last friday night. After stopping by the Azle Opery and visiting some friends, I went to see some other good friends of mine at Pearls Dancehall, in North Fort Worth.
Possibly the BEST four piece I've heard in a LOOOOONG while! Justin Trevino- Bass, and Vocals!! ...Dixie Hankins- Drums, and Harmony Vocals... Dale Morris Jr.- Fiddle, (and he sang a couple songs)....Johnny Cox- Steel Guitar..!
It was OUTSTANDING!! Justin is one of the very best singers ever, and such a nice guy!
(He even let me sing with them) Johnny Cox!! My goodness! What a picker!! Dale Morris Jr. Just about the best there is!! and Dixie! That girl is so solid, and plays everything perfect! ....There was not anything about that group that was not enjoyable. You Shoulda been there! |

I'm lonesome for Texas!! Speaking of Johnny Cox, he is one of the BEST players of all styles, but I've always said when he plays behind Justin, it brings out the best in Johnny!! Dale Morris Jr...well, another great! |

Chuck, you lucky dog. Dale Morris Jr. has to play well to stay in the family. Not only is Dale Sr. a super player but he had a brother I played with, Terry, who has since passed on who was a state champion many times here. There is another brother, Ken, who is a super guitar player also. And to have Dale Jr. tied up with the other players you mentioned just had to be awesome. Dixie is one more "tempo keeper". I'd like to see her and Justin at the Texas Bash in the spring.
