Straight from GAC:
"It's true that Grand Ole Opry is a LIVE stage show (and radio broadcast) every Saturday night in Nashville, TN but the Opry does not broadcast a LIVE television show every weekend on GAC at present. On Saturday nights when a LIVE broadcast is not planned, the Opry chooses a recently aired show for GAC viewers. Typically, a LIVE Opry show airs every other week at this time (schedule subject to change). Visit the Opry show page to see what's coming up!"
I agree with you, though...it would be nice to see a new show more than now & then.

Times change, but; not always for the best! I remember when the Opry Live was ‘Live’ every week for 30-min. at first and then for 1-hr. Live~Real-Time every Sat. night. Then the schedules changed and not for the better either. Now, my DirecTv programing doesn't include GAC, so; I never get to see it any more! But then, I hardly ever listen any more either! It's got too many uninteresting segments (for my interest) now, but; I must admit that it still has some great segments too, if you're willing to wait for them to come up! I wonder what the future life~expectancy of the Opry is nowadays! (At least as we knew it in earlier days!)

I was told by the Opry Crew that they were only contracted to do 12 live shows a year. After that would be reruns.

Big John,I think your right,The glory days of the Opry are gone, gone, gone!!! Except for a FEW rare occasions there is nothing GRAND about it any more. It's getting to be more a rock and roll show than a country show little by little.Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference from GAC[GREAT AMERICAN CRAP]and MTV.It's all about the money,This young generation has had this so-called country music today that the MUSICK industry has saturated the airwaves with that they actually BELIEVE that Kenny Chesney,Big and Rich,Cowboy Troy, and their peers are country artists, and &%$# such as Bo-donk-a-donk is a country song.I'm sure very few care what an old fossil like me thinks, but I'll never quit b---hing about it.

I hate to beat a dead horse but I have to agree with Charles. The "Grand Ole Opry" is not so "Grand" anymore. I never even try and watch anything about the Opry. Tommy White is a fabulous musician and he would be the only reason I would tune in on a regular basis. I just wonder what Roy Accuff would think about the way the Opry is run and the singers they have on there today. I am so disappointed in country music today. I feel for those session players who are having to play it to make a living. I guess that is why they are recording because they can adapt to all styles of music.

I just never understood where a Moog synthesizer (or equivalent) fit into the performing of a "country" song...

Paul, just keep beating that horse,I am.A few months ago someone made a post about the head honco of the opry saying he did'nt want to see any grey hair on the opry,WHAT AN IDIOT.The next night saw Gene Watson, with his silver hair and beard, wonder how he got on?I guess I'm just an old geezer, but I can remember every recording artist had a distinct STYLE.Country and pop.Artist such as Hank Snow,Hank Sr,Hank Thompson,Cash,Kitty Wells,Acuff,Earnest,Patsy,Webb,Buck,in the pop field,Tony B,Old blue eyes,Frankie Lane,Etta,in the rock and roll field,Buddy Holly,Elvis,Jerry Lee,Brenda Lee,these great artist didn't have to sing but ONE word and they were immediately recognizable.THAT IS CALLED STYLE,Also the majority of them had something else that's missing today [CLASS]I can't imagine Hank Snow,Mr.Acuff,Porter,Little Jimmy, desecrating the opry stage[or any stage]looking like they just crawled out of a dumpster with torn jeans, tanktop shirts, three day beards like the so-called super stars of today that [most]sound like clones, with NO STYLE AND NO CLASS.I have said it before if the best country singer we have today,Dale Watson would learn to trill a mike stand, wear a duster, sing flat[if he could]play a distored Les Paul, bury his great steel players so far back in the mix you could'nt hear them,he would no longer be ostracized by the musick industry, would be an instant hit on Gac[GREAT AMERICAN CRAP]
