We're still watching it. I seen Chalker on the maroon MSA and the black MCI, Russ Hicks playing the JCH, Jerry Brightman playing the Mullen, even Shot Jackson playing the dobro and there were these unknowns like a young George Strait, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, a very very pretty Connie Smith. For the real country music lovers, it's all you'd ever want.

On one song I thought I saw Chalker playing an E9th thing on the outside neck. I always thought his C6th was on the outside. Terry Christopherson (spelling?) who played with Buck sure seemed to set up high behind that Marlin didn't he? He was a pretty good west coast style picker for sure.......JH in Va.

Jerry, Curly Chalker had the necks reversed on his steel. The front neck was the C6th and the back neck was the E9th. The story I heard was someone told him to play the front neck, so he had his steel guitars built opposite the standard. Curly was a monster player and especially on the C6th tuning. Hee Haw never showcased the talent that he possessed. But then they never showcased the talent Bobby Thompson possessed either.

I'm Watching right now too. The episode with George and Tammy was pretty good. Seen Sonny Curtis on his Clark Custom, it sounded great. Now I've seen a total of 3 Clark PSG's. One of them is right here next to me.

How about them Hee Haw Honeys!!!

The music portion of Hee Haw was good, but the humor was terrible. I don't think I could even sit halfway through an episode without getting nauseated from the stupid jokes and silly costumes.

So did CMT just show only five episodes over and over again.
I set my tivo to record all of them and it recorded 15 or 20 shows, but just looks like the same five episodes ran about three or four times.

Come on CMT, Hee Haw was one of the longest running TV show ever. It was on the air every week for 23 years, and all you can find for your "Marathon weekend" is five episodes? That's pretty sad.

Barbie Benton nauseating? Wrong...
Archie in overalls, his wife in a housecoat doing the ironing, chewing his a$$ out...
I saw this happen in Real life in the '70's

Archie: "I feel like flying again..."
Friend: "Oh, have you ever flown before?"
Archie: "No, but I've felt like it before..."

One of my family's favorite Hee Haw jokes...

I caught a few of the shows. On one, Reba McIntire and Roy Clark did "My Window Faces The South", and it sure sounded and looked like the "Big E" at the steel. C6th all the way, and the fills, and the ending especially, were to die for.

Neil,

That was Russ Hicks on the Lyle Lovett songs. In the early years, when Curly was playing steel, Russ was the ultimate utility player. He plays every thing I think. When Curly left, it was an easy slide to the steel for Russ. I think this is the way it happened, Russ, correct me if I'm wrong. By the way, I asked him one time if he played drums, and he said something like, "no,I'm a musician."( What did he mean by that?)

As for Barbi Benton, there have always been alot of comments, but did anybody else notice that she was the only one clapping on the right beat when they did Bird of Paradise? hmmmmm

Smiley, you are right, it's been so long I've forgotten the names, but not the scene. So reminiscent of my days of youth spent in the hills of W. Va., with my relatives. We laugh like heck about that scene, 'cause that was us...

here we are in 2006..

the music on the shows is pretty good, watching the known artists and the musicians is cool..

I'm not keen on the dumb hokey comedy though.

Way back, when my wife's grandparents from Austria visited, they didn't understand the lingo but absolutely loved the music. Hee-Haw was their favorite TV program.
