I just got his CD titled "The Derek Trucks Band" and it blew me away. The guys playing is great, and his tone couldn't be better. I think he is playing a Gibson SG through an old Super Reverb. Lots of good music will be coming from this guy in the future. If ya'll haven't heard Derek, do yourself a favor and give him a listen.

Moved from No Peddlers to Music. I agree that he's a fine slide guitarist.

He hired sacred steeler Aubrey Ghent to play for his wedding a few years back...

Here he is jamming with Jerry Douglas at an Allman Brothers concert. He's also featured on one track on Douglas' latest CD "The Best Kept Secret".

and check out the vintage FENDER monsters behind him !

Super Six Reverbs ! 6x10's, 100 watts..

I don't think I actually ever saw one of these. I've seen it's counterpart being the QUAD Reverb ( 4 x 12's ) but never this one.

The spec book states it's a TWIN in a different cab and speaker configuration..

A Twin with 6 x 10's..Now thats the ticket as long as it's bolted to the floor and you never have to move it I suppose ...

or as in Dereks case.."SOMEONE ELSE" moves it !

and if you're standing in front of it I suppose it would help if you were bolted to the floor too.

Somehow Derek Trucks was someone whose name I've known for a few years and whose playing I thought I was familiar with but a couple of months ago NPR did a piece on him and I was shockled at how different his playing was than I expected. My first thought was that this guy is definitely well exposed to the Sacred Steel thing. He was really putting out a lot of that vocal moaning and wailing. His overall musicianship really impressed me.
