Music at the White House

The TV news item showing the first state dinner Bush had at the White House showed an all acoustical instrument country band at the occasion,___dobro, bass, guitar, rhythm guitar, and snare drum (brushes).

I think Hawaiian music also sounds better with only the steel guitar amplified and possibly, a good electric guitar player with a hollow body guitar like a Gretch or Gibson.

There are a number of fine acoustic Hawaiian guitarists (Ken Emerson, for one) who prefer the sound of the acoustic guitar in Hawaiian playing. If I owned a National tricone, I'd certainly be happy playing Hawaiian music on it!
It really depends on the player and the situation. Jerry Byrd is shown playing a National tricone, a Rickenbacker frying pan, and a Sho-Bud doubleneck on his "Steel Guitar Hawaiian Style" release.
