Very good performance from all. Her solo voice was a welcome change to some great solos. I still appreciate Mitzi Gaynor and the other performers but Reba's take on it was nice.

I'm not a particularly big fan of Reba, but a friend of mine, who's an avid follower of Theater and Musical Theater and somewhat of an afficionado, told me that the performances, particularly hers and Brian Stokes-Mitchell, were spectacular. He also said she really tore up 'Annie Get Your Gun' a few years back. |

Sorry, somehow I just can't imagine Reba singing 'Some Enchanted Evening' ...... |

Caught the re-run of Reba's performance of South Pacific at Carnegie Hall last night on PBS. She did put a new face on an old character, and I loved it. It was great hearing all those great old tunes again, performed by such good singers and musicians. The orchestra was excellent, and Reba got an extended standing ovation at the end. I thought it was well worth seeing. |

I'm not much of a fan of musical theater (the Monty Python Holy Grail sketch where the fey prince keeps wanting to break out in song pretty much captures my feeling about it) but I have always appreciated Reba and I think it's real cool that she has won acceptance by the theater mainstream for her work.
I have to say that I laughed out loud when trying to imagine Barry's concern about her "Some Enchanted Evening". How many syllables can she get out of the word "Some"? |
