Cool!

I liked the part about 2/3 of the way through where one of his finger picks flies off!

To me, Junior Brown is in the same class as Jimmy Hendrix. From another planet, total control, and a mind blower.

Junior's excellent rhythm section was Steve Layne on bass and George Rains on drum. And Miss Tanya Rae, of course, on rhythm guitar.

Yeah, that rhythm section - acoustic guitar, upright, and a single snare - is tremendous. More bands need to look at this and wake up, IMO. Major mondo drum kits are not needed.

Yeah, reminds me of the bands at Italian weddings [years ago]. Just a snare and a high hat; but it sounded to me like a full band.

Why did JB's YOUTUBE take about 8-10 minutes to clear that streaming stuttering, when other YouTubes I've clicked on [via the Forum] keep up and play rightn along?

I sent JB's YouTube off to some friends, but told them to click & play, turn on mute, go about your business, and come back in 15 minutes and then re-play.

I sure don't get it.

Chip,

It depends on the size of the file. You probably noticed the quality of the clips really differs. They use some compress mode when a file is uploaded. The files I have uploaded were between 50 and 80 MB, once they are uploaded, they are only between 5 and 10 MB. The bigger the file, the longer the loading takes. This one seems to have a higher quality...

Kind Regards, Walter

WOW! It's mind-blowing stuff to listen to, but even more so when you see him do it. Suddenly guys like Albert Lee seem slow and clumsy...

IMO, Junior Brown's "Semi crazy" is THE definitive truck driving song – witty lyrics as always, and awesome steel playing.

His "Surf medley" is agood track to listen to if you are getting over-confident, feeling that your playing is not that bad after all. A truly humbling experience!

Junior is a great player... but Albert Lee looking clumsy? Nah. I've seen Albert and he'd smoke the socks off almost anyone, even without the steel neck. Let's not over exaggerate.

Now that's the way I have always wanted to hear 409. I think Junior is steel guitar's finest emissary to the rock and roll world. Yeah, man.

Albert Lee clumsy? Surely you jest. He navigates complex musical passages like a Lamborghini running through a winding mountain road.

Of course Albert, my number one 6-string hero, is not the slightest bit clumsy. It was (very obviously, I thought ) just a way of describing Junior Brown's unbelievable chops, which are just out of this world: he's so fast that he's even faster than Albert Lee, the King of Speed.

I've seen Albert playing live, no more than ten feet away, and he's absolutely breathtaking - and equally good on the slower, more emotional tunes. Not a single missed or even slightly sour 1/16th note during a two-hour set.

Normally, I'm no fan of "look at me, see how fast I can play" - the metalheads can keep that to themselves. In my book, quality always beats quantity. But when shredder speed is combined with such good taste as Junior's and Albert's, it's fantastic.

Kevin, Maybe he's resting his fingers or spending some time at home, I think him and Tanya have a young daughter.

What a great clip, two of my favorite performers together. I have seen Junior many times and he always amazes, his longtime drummer Pete Ameral is just awesome with that small kit.
One of the best things Junior did was in Austin five years ago at Waterloo Park in front of probably 10K people, he did the ending of 'Close Encounters' when the spaceship is comunicating with the humans, really great.
