I've been playing a borrowed Fender Stringmaster, and like the sound better than my cheap copy and my old Selmer. But Someday Soon I'll have to give it back!
Here in England old Fenders are hard to come by. Any suggestions for a new 6-string (with legs) that's not too expensive? Canopus? Sierra?

Both Canopus and Sierra are high end in the price range. I don't think that either offer
a six string version,or at least I've not seen one.

Tony: You might have a look at Smith (Mellobar), Boem, or really high-end stuff like Excel. I think Cougar also makes one.
If you want a multi-neck 8, Herb Remington makes a couple. There are a couple of Canadian builders who may be able to give you a much better price. If you would like their names let me know. Charlie

Whatever you get, you're gonna want an 8-string and you'll soon see why. -MJ-

Tony: If legs are really important, and you want something that won't break the bank, look for an old MSA Sidekick (or Sho-Bud Maverick -- MSA is alot better, put the pedal-rods & pedal-bar in a closset somewhere -- and if six strings is all you want, put six on it -- if you use an E for your first, I would use positions #2 thru 7 to allow for an extra string above the E. It will not be long before you have nine strings on it. It this area that option would cost you about C$300. tops. Almost any other option will cost more, unless you are very lucky.
All the best, C.

www.elderly.com puts out a catalog of everything you as a musician have ever wanted and probably some things you never actually thought about yet......

They show Melobar Tomohawk, Deluxe 8-string with a 23" scale for $330.00

BLUE STAR Lapmaster is a 6-string lap steel with a price of $280.

Take a look and/or inquire.Ray(my real name!)
