Guitar Legend Les Paul Improves
02/07/2006 3:31 PM, AP
Guitar great Les Paul was in good condition Tuesday at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J., where he has been since Friday, said Maureen Curran Kleinman, a hospital spokeswoman.
"The worst is over," Paul said in a statement. "I am doing better. I am grateful to all of my friends for their thoughts and I will be back shortly making them laugh."
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that Paul was hospitalized Friday after X-rays revealed fluid in his lungs. The hospital declined to confirm that information.
Paul was to miss his all-star 90th birthday celebration concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He is expected to be released in the next few days, his son, Russ, told the Times.
Paul invented scores of recording techniques and helped spark the rock revolution by creating the enormously popular solid body electric guitars that bore his name. This year, he is nominated for two Grammy Awards, including best pop instrumental performance. |

Thanks for the post, Edward.
For those who are interested, there is a superb interview with Les in the most recent Tape Op magazine - the same issue with the fine review of Brad Sarno's Steel Guitar Black Box |

Les Paul was my very first musical hero in the early 50s. When I heard "How High The Moon" something inside this young lad came alive and put me on the musical road that has kept me for over 55 years. |
