in 1989, Universal released an untitled album by a singer called Scott McQuaig. A really good album, easily 8.5 on a scale from 1 to10, hardcore swinging country, with outstanding steel by Sonny Garrish. The track "Take the smile from your face" is actually one of my all-time favorites, high up among the top 10.
I haven't seen or heard anything from this promising artist since. Anyone out there who knows?

Scott works a day job as a machinist in Meridian,Mississippi, the last I saw of him.He is very active in the local club scene around Meridian. He occasionaly plays at The International Singing Brakeman Association monthly show in Meridian.TISBA is an organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Jimmie Rodgers music and traditional country music in general.Scott also performs at the Sucarnachee Review on the campus of the University of West Alabama in Livingston,Alabama. He also performs for charity and benefit shows, too. The next time I see him,I'll see if I can get him to contact you.By the way,I have that on cassette with the great Sonny Garrish on steel. Good luck! Andy |

Per, occasionally Scott will drop by the Peavey service center or I will see him and his band playing in an area club. Excellent songwriter/singer.
As a matter of fact, he works about 200 yards from where I sit now. I'll print this post and give it to him as I'm sure that he will appreciate your comments.

Thanks, guys! Good to hear he's still alive and performing, hope he's doing fine.
It's really a shame when you think about it:
The really good performers out there won't get recording contracts or air play, while the untalented, tone deaf hat models reach superstardom for no logical reason. The exceptions seem to get rarer every year.
