Got a line on a nice little 6 string Rickenbacker lap steel. Brown finished steel body. Snap over cover on tuners, plastic fretboard over the steel neck (or sheet metal). Real good condition. Vintage '49-'53, horeshoe pickup. Appears to be all original. It's a nice little guitar but have heard the bakelite models are alot better. Is $400.00 a good price on this piece?

Steve
you can get that sort of thing on Ebay for more like $300 - but then you're buying unseen/unheard, so if you've played this one and you like it maybe its worth the extra to you.
You won't get a Bakelite for anything like $400.

Pay as little as you can of course - but those things sound damn good. Sweeter and glassier,in my opinion than Bakelite ones. I have a top-of-the-line metal body Rick 8-string Silver Hawiian G-Deluxe in mint condition that I've been offered $1800.00 for. So just like Stringmasters and Bakelites, there are only so many of them and as time goes on people are gonna start hording them.I had a chance in 1977 to buy a 4-neck Stringmaster for $250 but passed because it had no case or legs.DUH............A nice one of those now goes for $2500 -MJ-
