You may want to check out the The new Napster....it is legal. For a monthly fee...I think about $9.95....you can listen to full hi fi versions of anything in their catalogue as much as you want on three different computers.
So , for example, if someone starts to tout a new album or an old one or an old song or a new artist most likely you will be able to hear it right away...They have 1.5 millions songs available.
Recent examples I've found: Hacienda Brothers (mentioned) by Dave Zirbel,Benny Goodman Stompin At the Savoy, Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday, and the new Martina McBride Album, Timeless, featured on the Imus show. My son's band's albums are on it and I bought a copy to see if they get any money.
I think it's good deal.....very few steel guitar albums though.
There is a free version of Napster but you can hear only 30 seconds of free music.
Should you want to buy an album they cost about $10 and you can burn a copy to a CD to play on any CD player.
I like Napster for learning new (or old) material. The player is easy to pause and go back with.
Anyone else like it? |
