Saw the show on TV Saturday. Very nice production, strings, choir, etc. There was a steel player but he wasn't featured much, got a few bars on a jazzy "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town". The guitarist was featured quite a bit, not sure who he was, I'm sure some of you guys know who it is. What impressed me most was Allan's low key, humble approach, much more appealing to me than some idiot jumping around showing off. Also Allan wasn't afraid to talk about our Lord Jesus Christ. It was a CHRISTmas show. (Oh no we're supposed to say Happy HOLIDAYS).
God Bless Allan & his family. (& all ya'll!) MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

...and wasn't that Matt Rollins on piano? Clearly there was no expense spared by the Orchestral Contractor, and the whole thing was beautifully done. I just wish that Alan Jackson was a stronger singer; he's not terrible, but he sounds ordinary to me.

I think I could have done without the family being pushed out there, too.

It's always great to see Brent Mason - he's the epitome of the top-line professional guitarist. Nice to see that re-issue D'Angelico solid-body he was playing - they look cool!

If you're looking for Christmas music some of Alan's country flavor you need to check out his earlier "Honky Tonk Christmas". On that one you'll find Brent Mason and Paul Franklin on every track.
