I made a weekend road trip over the Great Divide to Denver. I stopped at the Olde Tyme Picking Parlor in Arvada because I had heard they had several resophonics. WOW. I played an OMI Dobro (very nice), a Gibson with a new cone (nicer), a National D (nicer), and a Tut Taylor Virginian which knocked my socks off. Easy to play and tone like honey. I never knew a resophonic guitar could sound this mellow and balanced w/o being tweaked through an amp. BTW, this is a great, friendly accoustic shop, well worth the 5 hour drive, and the owner collects lap steels to boot. I only bought a Shubb Pearce #3 bar and some picks, but I'm going back with money in my pocket! |
