Just got a Regal sq. neck and was wondering about sugesstions for what strings would be good to use on that. The ones on it now are about 6 months old, but I don't know what they are and don't really have a clue about what strings or guages to use. Thanks for any help, Will |

There are sets available with all of the gauges you need. GHS are my favorite. I also recommend that when you try new strings keep the front insert and write notes on the back about how you like them or what you don't like about them. Try several different brands and then decide the brand you like best. D'addario, Elixer, Gibson (dobro) and
Johne Pearse are just a few. You might check out www.juststrings.com for some pretty good deals and sizes. Don't go too heavy on the Regal. |

Jagwire sells a nickel-wound set (that's right) of resophonic strings that are loud and clear. I've got a set on right now and they sound great on my dobro. About $9.00 a set. I could see where they would be very advantageous for players using a magnetic pickup.

I would question using the John Pearse strings on a Regal, even though it is a square neck. The RD45, if that is the one you have, is built by Samick in Korea as is my Fender. The Pearse reso set is extremely heavy, .059" 6th string as opposed to most other reso sets at .056" as an example. I look forward to the day I have a more expensive stronger guitar that I would feel safe putting the Pearse strings on. |

Will, I forgot to mention Paul Beard's Resophonic Outfitters. Their catalog has almost everything a reso player could want including lots of different string sets. I like GHS and D'Addario, but get their catalog. Online I think they are at "beardguitars.com". But their catalog is much more extensive than their website. Give them a call, they are very helpful. |
