I don't care about what he was carrying. Looking at the picture of him, I'd have arrested him just on general principle.

I'm not sure I buy the border authorities excuses that they can't arrest someone for what they were carrying. Can't people be arrested on suspicion? Isn't carrying a bloody chainsaw and homemade sword (and more) suspicious enough?

Funny how some of these psychos look pretty normal, and then there's guys like this who look as psycho as they turn out to be.

If this doesn't prove the borders need to be tightened up, I don't know how much more proof there needs to be.

Amazing.... when my wife and I drove from Mexico to the U.S. last year, they went over our empty van with a fine tooth comb, some hi-tech-looking gadgets and a drug-sniffing dog, and since 9/11, we didn't blame them.

And then guys like this with bloody weapons are questioned a while and passed through. I don't buy that they couldn't hold him and check him out thoroughly.

He was due in court in Canada the day he crossed, on related assault and threat charges, according to the story. One of two processes could have stopped this:

1. US and Canadian officials share criminal database info and compare notes, or

2. The Canadian border patrol (with access to to a criminal database) check on people exiting Canada.

This is so ridiculous, but not surprising. These kinds of holes need to be plugged, toutes suite.

You could say the same thing about old Charlie Manson...

Proves to me that Homeland Security is just another useless taxpayer-funded beauracracy.
Thanks, W.
