dear all,
I've posted about this before. I DJ a
steel-only show on our local public radio in Ft. Collins, CO, www.krfcfm.org, KRFC 88.9 every Thurs morning from 6am to 7:30am Mountain time (daylight now).

I've been doing it since AUG'04 and now have many listeners, and converts to steel! Comments are usually of the "gee I didn't know it sounded that cool" variety.

The station reluctantly gave me the show, - initially they were confused when I couldn't describe the genre I would play! I said all genres - but the focus is an instrument! This was a hard thing for the programming committe to grasp at first. Well it seems to be working - ever since last month, the station has added a 'fiddle only' show, and a 'mandolin only' show! Pretty cool eh?

The spring fund drive is happening this week. If you ever listen in via web streaming, or listen in the N. Colo. region, AND were ever considering a membership to public radio, or just want to support steel on the airwaves, please make your pledge during my show Thurs. AM -

call 866-221-5065, or 970-221-5075

I am an unpaid volunteer so bottom line to me is simply that I get to share steel music with the public (and enjoy sharing steel music) - and hopefully the station will continue to see value in the show and keep it on the schedule - but to station managers money contribution (unfortunately) is usually the measure of value.

mahalo,
Chris Kennison

btw, I post play lists on the station's web 'forum' which you can find at www.krfcfm.org. see "Steel Guitar Jam"
