Since Troy is a Dallas native, I wish him all the luck.
I think this is part of the evolution that country music has always undergone. Like it or not, at least something new is coming out of Nashville. I'm not sure if Troy will have any staying power in the industry or not. He seems like a really good guy. I saw him on CMT backstage with teh great Charley Pride. Sorry Troy, but you're no Charley Pride!! Not yet anyway.

Mark,
I have to respectfully disagree with you. Any way you slice it,it's hip hop,and has no business in country music. I hate the fact the the genre' has sold it's soul for a wider audience. It's the almighty dollar. Cowboy Troy will have less staying power than Billy Ray Cyrus, and he actually had some talent to go with the mullet.I guess I am trying to say that this is a novelty act and will go away like parachute pants.

Hi Dustin.
I agree with most of what you just said. I try not to wish failure on anyone. This is a fad that will probably go away on its own soon. I'd seriously doubt that hip hop has much of a chance in the country circles......however......I must add that when our band plays live, and we take a break, guess what type of music is normally played, and it packs the dance floor...yep, you guessed it, hip hop. the kids love it. If Nashville thinks they can make a buck, they'll give it a shot.

Almost all the places we play, during the breaks they play Hip Hop, some Rap, modern line dancing disco tunes etc...
but the bands they hire to play ( and pay ) live music 45 min sets between the 20 minute breaks are..
Country Bands ...
now there ya have the skinny...
