Was going thru some really dusty cassettes today with a good old friend who wanted me to find for him "The Travelin' Wilburys"---
which I never found.
But came across a cassette that I bounced down from a Grand Old Opry show featuring Tish, introduced by Chris Hillman,
and backed up by the Desert Rose Band.
With all due respect to JD, on this gig,
Al Perkins was doing the steel honors. Herb Peterson, and John Jorgenson rounded out the rest of the DRB. Sorry - forgot who was on drums and bass - Hillman & Tish on acoustic guitars. And, I think, harmonizing into 1 mike.
Anyway, she did two knockout songs, that
tonite, again,
just knocked me out, as it did when I first heard them.
I'm not too sure of the exact titles, but one sounds like "A Way Of Life In The Real West" and the other - "If You Leave Me Now,
I Won't Go".
She was [is] a great gutsy singer. But she did get married and probably stopped touring for a while cuz kids came. But, man, I'd sure go to see her if she came around my way.
I know she did play around Northampton a few years back, but I couldn't get to that one.
Is she still touring, recording? Is anyone hip to her?

I know her only by her appearances on Austin City Limits and I seem to recall "Way of Life in the Real West".
Tish Hinohosa's website http://www.mundotish.com makes mention of a new album that's due any day.
Along with Tish it features Marty Muse, Cindy Cashdollar, Ray Benson, Flaco Jimenez and others.
Ought to be a dandy. |
