| Last night, I did something very unusual for me. I was already up pretty late and I heard that Leann Womack was gonna be on the Conan O'Brian show. I can't stand Conan but I really like Leann's new song, so I decided to stay up a little longer to hear the nice fiddle and steel parts on her new song. Well, she did her new song, but without a steel and fiddle. She had her own band, but no steel, no fiddle. I guess that would have made it too country for big time TV. I just don't get it. |

| Jim, thanks for the heads up I was planning on buying that cd this weekend but I don't think I will now. I rate that right up there with Kieth Urban he uses killer steel in a lot of his recordings but videos show the fiddle or banjo playing on the steel parts and he doesn't use one on the road.I will not buy any of his stuff because of that. |

IMO it has great steel work on it.

I've never seen her live and didn't see the show in question but I know for a fact from others who have seen her, that she does carry fiddle & steel on the road.
Maybe someone will know why they wern't on TV. I would definatly recommend the new CD!! It's very country and she used Paul Franklin (5 cuts) & Rusty Danmyer (5 cuts) even Robby Turner on one cut.
She can do country with the best of them and from interviews I've read, that's really where her heart is. This is very apparent on this CD.
Hopefully someone will know why there was no fiddle or steel on tv. |

| She seems kind of torn between being a pop chanteuse a la Whitney, and being a country singer. I suspect it's a result of management advisors who would like to profit from either, or both, by marketing the "package" in every possible way. |

| I believe it's Leann Rimes, and Lee Ann Womack. Ah, heck, with a last name like mine, who cares about spelling? I'm glad for both of them. Nice to see Ms. Rimes doing country again. "Nothin' 'Bout Love Makes Sense" is a good song IMHO. And I agree Lee Ann has wound her course back and forth between intricate pop and solid neo-traditional country. I like the country side. |

I don't think it's anything as sinister as rtying to hide the fiddle and steel. Maybe it would cost too much to bring them-there could be lots of reasons, particularly if they were in NY just for that show.
At least she played it live, and didn't lip synch it!

| Ronald, I'm not saying that it isn't a good cd I'm sure it is by reports on the forum and from friends. But it just rubs me the wrong way. Reviews say that She is getting back to traditional country. But then she gets on national tv and throws it all out the window.The same as Keith Urban and Leeann Rhymes. Call me old fashioned but ya gotta dance with the one that brought ya or don't dance at all. |

Well, I don't know for sure but I do know that Rusty Danmyer was working with Womack but left to work with Rimes. So, she has been using fill in guys such as Tim Sargent and Jeff Surratt. I think Rusty still does her stuff when available. I guess it's possible that all the fill ins were busy and she couldn't get anyone to do the show. Just a guess though. I don't know that I would burn her at the stake just yet. I bought the album last week just for the steel work. Good album.

You've made a good point, and you're probably right. I know she normally carries a fiddle and steel. I maybe shouldn't have been as critical, but after forcing myself to stay up through Conan, I was just very disappointed. What is really ironic though, the thread just above this one talked about Bob Dylan with twin fiddles and a steel. Go figger.

| After listening to the CD since Friday, I hafta say the tune "Happiness" certainly is a good one. It kinda choked me up a couple of times. I think the most enjoyable part of the trip is when the producers "peaked out" the cymbal crash right at the tune crescendo. Great move! |

Yeah, the piano and guitar played real nice, and she sang real pretty - but there was a big hole where the steel should have been. Maybe the idea was to target the "mainstream" audience that might be down on Country by leaving out steel and fiddle. If that's the case, it's a shame.

| Bought the album on the strength of some reviews, that gave me the impression, that she had returned to the sound she had on her first two albums. I don't think she has....so I'll just stick to my Leona Williams "Honorary Texan" and Amber Digby "Music From The Honky Tonks" albums - both of them with tons of Dicky Overbey steel.
