| Well, guess I went crazy for a guy that's been in this thing for almost 50 years, but I just bought a new (Ameican made) Tele and a 1965 reissue Fender Super Reverb(4-10's)It also seem's crazy that I had to go back to 1965 to get the sound I was lookin' for. I think the band and everybody concerned is happy with it. I even had a younger guy come up and ask me what kind of pedal I used to get this sound. I had to grin when I told him it was just guitar-to-amp. Lookin' forward to every weekend again. Long live Don Rich, Roy Nichols, James Burton. One happy SOB |

| Hey, don't take me wrong. I've probably spent a small fortune, over the years, on gimmicks, echo chambers, phase shifters, distortion, chorus, and they all have their place, and some guys can get more out of them than others. I guess I'm one that can't. It seemed like I was foolin' with them all the time, instead of concentrating on pickin'. I have all the respect in the world for pickers that can use them, and use them right. Doyle |

Looking back I think the best sound I ever had was a 68 Tele, Twin, Dynacomp compresser and an old Echoplex. I enjoyed using all the Rack gear in later years, but that simple setup was probably the best.

| I appreciate hearin' from ya'll, and I know you know what I'm talkin' about. Richard, I was told by a reliable source that you worked with Faron. That had to be a real trip. I miss Faron's music and the kind of Country that was bein' played in that era. I'm one of the lucky ones I guess, because the band I'm in is still playin' that kind of music. We play to an older crowd and keep the volume down where they can still enjoy. We work just about every weekend so I guess it works for us. Doyle |

Hey Doyle, good for you..great combo Tele/Tens..
I've been contemplating another Tele amp but am leaning towards the Peavey classic 50 with 4 tens..currently using a Hot Rod Deville 2x12, my bandmate uses a Peavey classic 50/2x12..very awesome ...no pedals , either of us..I'm on an older 52RI while Matts on a 50's Classic Tele..

I'd love to just use that basic set up but I work with 3 different bands and need different things. What I've settled on is my Tele into a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 2-12 with a Boss pedal board going through the effects loop. The board has a Delay, compressor, tremolo, chorus, distortion, and flanger on it. When everythings turned off I can get a good straight ahead Don Rich type tone with just the amp reverb. Sometimes I use an old Electro Harmonix LPB-1 power booster at the input jack for some California sound ala Bob Warford, Clarence White, etc.. Have a good 'un..JH
