My new band, Klezmeroke, plays tunes by John Zorn and Hasidic New Wave. No steel, I'm on guitar.

Why NOT play steel?
There is a multi instrumentalist named Brad Catler who, although he lives in New York City, plays for a Klezmer singer from Europe and is very popular there. Brad spends more than half his life on tour with him.
Last time I spoke to Brad, He showed his steel (a Mullen) to his boss, and they agreed to use it on a few tunes.
I don't know how it worked out, but I don't see why it wouldn't. |

Some of that stuff sounds similar to the stuff I tried to play when I was in Go Van Gogh. Lap steel fits pretty well with a saxophone, in my opinion.
I was using a bit of overdrive on my National Dynamic to get the sound I wanted.
You should just bring a steel guitar to a rehearsal and see what happens!
