I found this link last night after trying to change a string on a guitar with a Bigsby tailpiece. I had a lot of difficulty keeping the string’s ball end on the tailpiece’s mounting post. Scroll down the page of the following link and it suggests using a foam wedge to hold the string in place.

My wife had a bag of foam wedges that she uses with her cosmetics that works fine. Afterwards, I recall seeing foam stuck in Bigsby tailpieces over the years. Now I know that it may not have been to kill a buzz.

Regards,
Sam

Sam.

All you have to do is just make a curve in the string right at the ball end. You can do it with your fingers if you on a gig or with a small set of needle nose pliers if you at a bench. Make sure the curve is done with the hole in the ball end facing up. Then just thread the string over the top of the roller and "hook" the ball end onto the string post. Keep a little tension on the string as you thread it through your machine heads.

Just my 2 cents.

Sam, Thanks for the link. All my electrics have Bigsby's. Changing a string is especially difficult on a dark stage in a hurry. My Tele has a B5 with a tension bar and this makes it even harder! This will surely help.

One of those little rectangular pencil erasers works real well too, just jam it in there.
