Jones Media Networks Sells Country Cable/Satellite Channel

Great American Country goes to The E.W. Scripps Company, which
operates the Scripps Networks, for $140 million in cash. As part of
the deal Jones agrees to provide cross-promotion for GAC using
affiliates of Jones Radio Networks, a subsidiary of JMN. Jones
started the 24-hour country channel eight years ago; it now reaches
34 million rated households. GAC becomes the latest in the Scripps
portfolio of niche channels, along with Home & Garden Television,
Food Network, DIY (Do It Yourself Network) and Fine Living.

Janice, I assume it will keep the GAC name on the channel. As far as what you see on TV, you probably won't know the transaction took place, right? Doyle

I wonder if GAC will pop up on DirecTV now? All those others DIY, Home & Garden, etc, are, but DirecTV has CMT which plays more movies and stupid stuff than country music related stuff, vidoes, concerts, etc.

Actually GAC is already on DirecTV: channel 326. I noticed it on the channel guide about a month ago, I guess. Nice to be able to check in on the Opry again.

Really? Do you have both CMT and GAC? I'll have to check that out. Shows how much I watch TV, think I saw a 1/2 inning of the NLCS last night and that about as much TV as I've seen in a month.

Janice, I live in the Tulsa Okla area and although GAC is on the line up (DTV) they have not opened it up to the general public.
Is this the same as you other viewers?

I have DirecTV. A few weeks ago, GAC appeared on the channel menu right above CMT. I have been able to enjoy the Opry again.
