. It's "pitchy" in a couple of places, but symptomatic of her having no experience with studio cans... she's usually dead on.

Sounds good Rick, good singing and guitar playing.

My son recently recorded a really good singer that was having pitch problems, and he remembered reading somewhere that the higher the volume in the headphones, the more likely the singer is to be off pitch. He talked her into letting him lower the volume in the cans, and the pitch problems cleared right up.

We also have a severe problem with our Praise team singers at our Church wanting the monitors extremely loud. We record every service directly off the board into an Alesis Masterlink, and listening to the songs later, it is obvious that when the monitors are louder, the pitch problems are worse, but we cannot get the point across to them.

Just something to be aware of if you didn't already know.

Hey Rick,nice job.
A bit Tuck and Patti 'ish. A simple renditions,
but she clearly feels the song and does it HER way,
and not like the original.
Very nice. Do some more, and with a bit of steel too.

I noted in another thread there are two elements to volume and ear tone pitch.

If you drown out the inner ear tone,
then you can sing to the cans or monitors tone...
once you are used to doing that.
But that takes practice.

The other is ignoring most of the exterior tone and only singing to head tone, but this is also hard of the exterior sound is too loud. You must consiously ignore some ound, that is very close towhat you are trying to concentrate on.
Also takes practice.

But when it is 50/50 most people have a very poor time of it.

Thanks, guys. I usually leave one ear covered and the other ear half uncovered, so that I can hear some head tone. That seems to work for me.

Not that I'm not still capable of getting pitchy.

Well, I'm glad you guys liked it. I'm sure her version was influenced by Kenny Loggins. I have it on one of his albums, and that's where she heard it. Sure do miss that girl... she's been my sidekick all her life. She's out of college and living in the UK now, pursuing her "destiny".

Rick just gave this a listen too. This is a great sound and I heard feeling and that mean's everything in a song. If this was 5 year's ago I would like to hear her today. The guy's are right about putting some steel especially on that song. Think about it when you reach that point in life when you are drooling and wearing depends, her singing can take care of you. Wait a minute I am getting close to that myself, oh well. If you still have the master I would go back and add some bass and steel and let us hear it again. I know you're proud and you should be. I know we have'nt met yet but I look forward to it and the next time I am down visiting with my brother Ray I want to drop in. Take care
