Right before the holidays I was at of all things a wedding reception dance and the DJ out of nowhere played a cut that made my jaw drop! The singer sounded like a young Johnny Bush only even richer . The DJ told me the CD was Jake Hooker , You Had A Call. I'd never heard of him . His webcite Southland records.com showed that his tour circuit is primarily north Texas dancehalls . Has any one else heard of or better yet seen this kid ? His CD , which I now have , is awesome!

There are at least two more C.D.s on him a couple of "live" C.D.'s and the one you refer to, He gets a lot of air play on a country only radio station here in Missouri, great singer and the band he uses is awsome! By the way the radio station I refer to is KWKZ 106.1 F M Cape Girardeau, Mo.

I saw Jake and his great band in Vegas last month...he had Dicky Overby and Bobby Flores working with him...I went down the street to hear them 3 or 4 times that week(Rick Price filled in when Dicky was taken ill,and he did a wonderful job)...I usually don't leave the hotel when I work in Vegas, but I don't get to hear a band like that every day...I recommend any record of Jake's VERY highly.

I first met Jake in FT Worth at Big Balls of Cowtown several years ago. Excellent.

Ocassionally, Jake, Bobby Flores, and Justin Trevino show up with Jim Loesburg at the TSGA Show and really give the crowd a dose of solid gold ole country music. Go to see Jake, you won't be sorry. Jody.
