I had posted about this lap steel last week. It is unusual enough that I was interested in bidding on it if it could be had cheap. But in the end-game the price went nuts! So does anybody know what this is that had a couple of guys willing to pay so much?

I don't know, but from the pic of the back of the guitar (which looks like it's been painted with white primer),and the side picture,it looks like it might be made of cast aluminun...or something.A different-shaped knock-off of a Frying Pan,maybe?
It came with an amp, too, and amp hobbyists like to collect those little 30's and 40's amps.

It's certainly an unusual lap steel. I've only seen one before, and didn't get much of a chance to play it. From what I remember, the guitar is very very thin, with a corresponding loss in tonal quality.

I'm sure the run up in price was based on its rarity. I haven't been able to find out anything about the Sound Projects lap steels.
